Cockroach removal

Eliminate roaches at the source

Cockroaches breed fast and hide in cracks, drains and wall voids — so the ones you see are only a fraction of the problem. Our licensed technicians use targeted gel baits and treatments that reach nesting sites and destroy the colony, including protected egg cases.

Cockroaches in Toronto

What are cockroaches?

Cockroaches are among the oldest and hardiest insects on Earth, having existed for over 300 million years. They are nocturnal, hide during the day, and are drawn to food, water and warmth — which is why kitchens, bathrooms and basements are their favourite spots.

Built to survive & hide

A cockroach has three main body sections and several features that make it a tough household pest:

  • Head — long antennae to sense food and danger, plus chewing mouthparts
  • Thorax — six spiny legs for fast running, and wings in most species
  • Abdomen — houses the digestive and reproductive organs; females carry eggs in a case called an ootheca
  • A flat, oval body that squeezes into the narrowest cracks
A health concern, not just a nuisance. Cockroaches can carry bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli across food-prep surfaces, and their droppings and shed skins can trigger allergies and asthma — especially in children. Fast, thorough treatment protects your family and your reputation.
Common roaches

Cockroach species found in Toronto

Each species behaves differently and hides in different places — so identifying it is the key to treating it correctly.

German Cockroach (Blattella germanica)
Blattella germanica

German Cockroach

  • Size: 13–16 mm
  • Colour: Light brown with two dark stripes behind the head
  • Where found: Kitchens, bathrooms, warm humid areas

The most common cockroach in Toronto homes and restaurants. Breeds extremely fast, so infestations grow quickly.

American Cockroach (Periplaneta americana)
Periplaneta americana

American Cockroach

  • Size: 35–40 mm
  • Colour: Reddish-brown, glossy
  • Where found: Basements, drains, sewers, boiler rooms

The largest common cockroach. Prefers warm, damp areas and can fly short distances.

Oriental Cockroach (Blatta orientalis)
Blatta orientalis

Oriental Cockroach

  • Size: 20–25 mm
  • Colour: Dark brown to black, shiny
  • Where found: Damp basements, drains, under sinks

Often called the "water bug." Thrives in cool, damp places and gives off a strong musty smell.

Brown-Banded Cockroach (Supella longipalpa)
Supella longipalpa

Brown-Banded Cockroach

  • Size: 10–14 mm
  • Colour: Light brown with two pale bands across the wings
  • Where found: High, warm spots — behind pictures, in electronics, upper cabinets

Prefers warmer, drier areas than other roaches and often hides higher up on walls and furniture.

Life cycle

From egg to adult

Cockroaches go through incomplete metamorphosis — egg, nymph, then adult. A single egg case (ootheca) can hold dozens of eggs, which is why a small problem becomes a large infestation so quickly.

Cockroach life cycle — egg case, nymph and adult
Cockroach life cycle — egg to adult

Why they multiply so fast

  • Egg case (ootheca) — a single case can hold 15–40 eggs depending on the species
  • Nymphs — hatch and molt several times, looking like smaller wingless adults
  • Adults — a female German cockroach can produce hundreds of offspring in her lifetime
  • Egg cases are protected, so treatments must keep working long enough to break the cycle
Signs of an infestation

What to look for

Roaches at night

Seeing roaches when you turn on a light — since they hide during the day, daytime sightings often mean a large infestation.

Droppings

Small black or brown specks (like ground pepper or coffee grounds) near food, in drawers and along baseboards.

Egg cases

Small brown, capsule-shaped egg cases (oothecae) tucked into cracks and hidden corners.

Musty odour

A strong, oily, musty smell that gets worse as the infestation grows.

Shed skins

Pale skins left behind as nymphs molt on their way to becoming adults.

Smear marks

Brown smear marks along walls and surfaces in damp areas where roaches travel.

Where they hide

Common cockroach hiding spots

We inspect every hidden zone — not just where you see them.

  • Behind and under kitchen appliances (fridge, stove, dishwasher)
  • Inside cabinets, drawers and pantries
  • Around sinks, drains and pipes
  • Cracks in walls, baseboards and tiles
  • Basements, boiler rooms and floor drains
  • Inside electronics and small appliances (brown-banded)
Our process

How Nomore Pest removes cockroaches

Store-bought sprays scatter roaches and leave egg cases untouched. Our proven 4-step process eliminates the whole colony.

Inspection

We identify the species and locate nesting sites, entry points and moisture sources.

Targeted Treatment

Gel baits and treatments are applied exactly where roaches nest and travel — safe around your home.

Break the Cycle

Treatments keep working to reach newly-hatched nymphs and protected egg cases.

Prevention & Follow-Up

Entry points sealed and a follow-up visit to confirm the infestation is fully gone.

Prevention tips that help: keep food sealed and counters clean, fix leaks and dry out damp areas, empty bins regularly, and seal cracks around pipes and baseboards. These reduce the food, water and shelter roaches depend on.

FAQs

Cockroach control questions

Cockroaches are attracted to food, water and warmth — not just mess. They enter through gaps, drains and pipes, or hitch a ride on boxes and groceries, and can appear in the cleanest homes. Professional treatment targets the source, not just the roaches you see.

Yes — cockroaches can carry bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli across food-prep surfaces, and their droppings and shed skins can trigger allergies and asthma, especially in children. This is why fast, thorough treatment matters.

Store sprays kill only the roaches you see and scatter the rest, while eggs stay protected inside their cases. We use targeted gel baits and treatments that reach nesting sites and break the breeding cycle.

We offer same-day appointments across Toronto and the GTA, dispatched within hours of your call.
